Question: Is there any stipend given to the apprentices?

Answer:

During the apprenticeship training, apprentices are paid monthly stipend to enable them to sustain their day-to-day expenses. The expenditure on stipend for trade apprentices is borne by the employers. In case of the Graduate, Technician, Technician (Vocational), it is shared equally between the employer and the Central Government.

Rates of stipend for the Trade Apprentices (Revised w.e.f. 22-09-2014) :

Period of Apprenticeship Training Rates of stipend (per month)
First year 70% of minimum wage of semi-skilled workers notified by the respective State or Union territory.
Second Year 80% of minimum wage of semi-skilled workers notified by the respective State or Union territory.
Third & Fourth Year 90% of minimum wage of semi-skilled workers notified by the respective State or Union territory.
